Everett was an old man when I met him. He loved his little 2 foot by 3 foot patch of flowerbed in front of his apartment. He planted peppers and tomatoes but the poor soil and bugs never let anything fruit. He always gave advice about staying away from women and marriage. He had a loud toothless laugh that often followed his advice. He died after being hit by a car while walking across the only bridge in town. I have no idea why an 80 year old needed to cross that bridge.
